Chip Tuning and Additional Controllers for Diesel and Petrol Engines
With chip tuning no constructional changes on the engine are involved. The improved performance is  exclusively based on the wise exploitation of thermal and mechanical reserves that every production engine has. This is achieved by a software modification of the engine controller or an additional controller. However, our performance improvements are not oriented on what is technically viable but they are achieved under consideration of durability and economic efficiency in order to ensure a long-lasting and economic engine life-cycle. Technically speaking, performance improvements of 40% can easily be achieved. However, it is not advisable to use the full capability of what seems to be technically possible. After extensive test bench studies and  test drives covering the engine concepts of many vehicle manufaturers we consider a power improvement of approx. 15-25 % as a recommendable guideline and the best common denominator of perceptible performance and durability. Of course, this is also an ecologic advantage due to the reduced fuel consumption. Improved performance and  sustainability are not contradicting each other any more. With our chip tuning consideration of ecological aspects comes off-the-shelf.

Techworld's chip tuning optimises control of important engine parameters. Amongst others injection rate, injection timing, injection pressure, charging pressure, air volume and ignition timing are changed in dependence from temperature and charge state. By elimination of the Vmax limit and a modified response (throttle sensor system) it is possible to realise individual driver requests. While an adjustment and measurement in the engine test bench is required, it cannot substitute 'real' test drives. Therefore 'test bench developed and tested' is not yet a seal of quality for a good setup. Our development engineers have performed several ten thousands of test kilometers with our products in order to get as close as possible to a perfect setup. The detailed tests and final evaluation of the test bed and laboratory results and the test for road capability can only be performed on the road.

Manipulation of the ignition map or additional controllers? (often referred to as powerbox, tuning kit, blackbox or tuning box).
